Will it be wise to cut back my plants ?

Multiple Weigela and hydrangea got damaged by early frost. I was thinking should I cut them back. My main concern are that if I do not cut them back the stems will get infected and reach the roots and kill my plants but my other concern is if I cut them back it could start to grow more and it would disrupt the process of dormancy. So what should I do ? Next consistent frost will be after a month.

By the way this plants already survived 3 winters when temperatures gone as low as -34 Celsius and this early frost was only -6 celcius. So they are fit to grow in my zone.

But I am interested if maybe they did not have much time to adapt to winter ?
