Why do these mushrooms grow here?

This only happens in a certain area of the lawn. It’s an area where previously there was a large tree (camphor laurel) that was removed 2 years ago, though the roots remain (with random shoots growing from time to time).

Is it because the roots are decaying underneath? And is that okay? Or is this a problem?
