When do I pick this pumpkin?

It grew from one of those Halloween pumpkins next to my compost bin. It started to turn orange overnight, the vine is basically dead, but the stalk is still green. It sounds hollow when I knock on it, but should I wait until the stalk dries out? Tips on how to store it until October would be appreciated. Im guessing it’s not so good for eating?
