What’s the difference between a market umbrella and a patio umbrella? – Reddit Post

I’m in the middle of revamping my backyard seating area and realized I don’t actually know the difference between a market umbrella and a patio umbrella. I always thought they were the same thing, but apparently not?

I’ve seen both terms used when browsing outdoor furniture on patiowell and now I’m wondering, is it just marketing language or are there actual design/function differences? Like, does one hold up better in wind? Is one better for garden seating vs. dining tables?

Also, if anyone has recommendations for an umbrella that works well near raised beds or flower borders (without looking bulky or blocking too much light), I’d love your input!
