What are these plants !?

Hey guys, I’ve been having some trouble with this plant growing in my garden beds, they sprout up and are super thick. Does anyone know what plant this is and the best way to kill it ? I was just mortified so the how many roots were growing through underneath my weed mat, would some good old round up do the trick ? The roots look like onions
