One snowy winter, I cleared the snow off my roof and realized, during the spring thaw, I had inadvertently broken several branches on my nice fothergilla shrubs. After thinking deeply (lol) for awhile, I came up with the idea of wrapping the broken branches with the duct tape I had laying around. It looked pretty silly, and I was a bit embarrassed doing it, but by next spring, when I removed the duct tape the branches had completely healed.
