We grew pumpkins for the first time now what? – Reddit Post
My mother in law got some seeds somewhere and planted them in the backyard and just had the “ let’s see what happens attitude because she’s never planted them before either. We planted it in the spring with everything else and I came to realize that might be a little early for pumpkins if you want them for Halloween. Anyways, they turned out huge and amazing. The vine ended up taking up half my backyard and was climbing up my cedars. We lost a few smaller ones along the way but my questions are? What do I do with the vines now that they are all shrivelled up. Do I cut them back? Can I just mow over the vines to get the grass ready for winter? And we just carved the 3 for Halloween, what do we do with the seeds if we want to plant them again for big pumpkins next year? Or will it just grow on its own in the spring? Also how would I go about prepping or giving seeds to neighbours who want some?
Thanks for your time!
