Suggestions for centre garden bed in Sydney?

I’ve struggled with this 3x3m garden bed in the middle of my backyard since moving in a few years ago.

East (right) side is completely blocked from the sun by neighbour’s privacy bamboo until midday. Then only filtered sunlight for remainder of day through big trees.

I’ve tried herbs and veges (tomatoes, capsicum, chilli, lettuce) but none have performed very well due to lack of sunlight.

Maybe a change of tack? Something more decorative? What would you put in that would look great?
