Slow worms

I was working in the garden earlier and saw three slow worms writhing around on the patio. Here’s a video of two of them, the other one seemed a bit of a third wheel!

I’ve never seen them so out on the open before. A quick Google told me that it’s mating season so this is typical behaviour for them.

My hostas this year have remained in perfect condition, I thought this was due to the dry weather but I think I can perhaps thank these guys too?
