Should I cut back my neighbour’s Japanese maple while I can still reach it?

I absolutely love Japanese maples, but I don’t know whether I should be worried about this one being so close to our house. The online height estimates are quite wide (1.5 m to 9 m), and this one has grown very fast. I don’t know if I should be concerned about leaves ended up in those gutters. They would be very high for us to get to and clean out. What do you think? Should I cut it back to the fence-line while I can still easily reach it?
