Seedlings Dying

This is happening with every apple tree I try to grow. I put the seeds in the fridge for 2 months then and take out when they have started to grow. I put them into a propagator with fresh compost. They grow to an inch high then go brown, then black and die.

This has happened with well over 30 seedlings.

Can anyone help?
