Removing Laurel…without killing it
Firstly, I’m new to gardening and may be naive here. New house has a lovely garden with established borders which I am taking my time to document what is what and what to expect in terms of flowering.
However, there is a single mature laurel – possibly 8ft tall by 4 or 5ft wide(?) which dominates my view from the french doors to the patio. Hiding some lovely flowering shrubs.
I want to remove the laurel (I find it…boring). But ideally would like to remove it so it can be rehomed (via FB Marketplace, or find a family member who wants it). I’d hate to kill a tree/bush because it doesnt fit my “aesthetic”.
Is this possible? I have a mattock, spade, shovel, soil rake. Can borrow tools to prune or cut back (chainsaws or pruning saws).
Or do I accept that its destined to get green binned over time?
Thanks!
