Reinstating borders

The wooden edging of borders in our garden rotted and collapsed so I’ve removed them. The borders are narrow and could do with being broadened – I wondered if others thought it was worth doing this (which could make the lawn and garden itself look v narrow).

Is there a practical (easy to mow) alternative I should consider eg a better design that two straight lines? Thanks
