Recommendations for a long bed

We’ve recently bought a new house and the previous owners put in 9 lilly pills. We would like to pull them out and replace them with natives that flower as this is what we can see from both the lounge and dining rooms. The issue is that the bed itself is shades by the fence, however in summer the tops of these plants get a fair bit of sun. Is there hope? Should we opt for more established plants when purchasing?
