Pumpkin Sprouts Normal?? – Reddit Post

Can someone explain what is happening here?! I purchased the pumpkin last Halloween and it has been sitting on my TV stand ever since as it showed no signs of change over the last year. It was simply suppose to be decide. Then today I was just checking it to make sure it wasn’t molding or deteriorating but instead found what I think are seeds sprouting around the stem!
