Potted bougainvillea – snapped roots

I’ve recently moved into a new house in Adelaide and when moving a potted bougainvillea, accidentally snapped the roots. It wasn’t obvious that they had penetrated the drain hole at first.

Can we save the plant? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
