Plant related ethical dilemma – is it ok to take cutting from office plants?

I work for a large organisation. The plants in the office are rented, with a servicing team coming in weekly to water and fuss over them. I want to take a cutting from this lovely specimen. Would this be considered theft from the workplace? Like taking pens from the stationery cupboard for home use?
