Perth small garden bed, no direct sun, plenty of natural light – what to plant.

This photo is of a small garden bed (about 2.2 metres x 600mm), i pulled out all the stones sunk in the sandy soil, there is probably at least another bucket of stones. The garden is outside a bedroom window, I am thinking to add soil / compost as it is really just sand, thinking about using two or three tall pots, not sure what to plant in them and then planting ferns directly in the garden bed in between the pots.

Would love to hear ideas or see photos of similar gardens that get plenty of natural light but no direct sun a can handle Perth climate, both cold and hot.
