Our jasmine is naked now, just sad and wanted to share – Reddit Post

Look at our sad, bald jasmine 😭 We hired a new gardener to lightly trim the jasmine in the backyard. Just so we wouldn’t have to crouch so low to get under there to clean. I mean, it’s our bad for not babysitting him, but he came highly recommended by other neighbors.

He ended up taking a hedge trimmer and just slicing through the jasmine. The bulk of the vines and leaves fell over the wall, and he decided to pull that back with some rope and anchored it to the wall. The pounding on the wall is what made us check on him 💀

We told him there was no point, the head of the plant is just going to dry up in a few days because it’s not connected to anything but he refused to hear it and insisted it just needed to be put back in place and it would be fine.

So now the plant is bald, has no leaves or flowers and no longer smells, we have new holes in the wall, and will have to deal with getting rid of a bunch of dead vines in a few days. He also seemed to trample the surrpunding plants, including a big aloe plant. The worst part is, he isn’t the first gardener to cut the whole top off this jasmine, which is why we were looking for a new one. 🥲
