My limited options produced this…garden? – Reddit Post

I have woods on the east and west, a massive maple covering the majority of the yard, and my house and detached garage on the north, so all day or even half day sunlight is sparse. The only area that gets a solid-ish (some speckled throughout the day) is on a slope in the middle of the yard. Trying to regrade would be a nightmare and not something I’d like to spend hundreds or thousands on wood for raised beds. And because of my limited area vertical is the way to go for as much as I can. So my frugal solution was mostly free ($10 each for a couple of them) tractor tires and a trellis from what the woods donated. The tires are far enough apart to mow between and the trellis high enough to walk down the middle. So far it’s going really well 🤞. I set up drip irrigation for all the beds from a single supply to make it a bit easier when it starts really getting hot outside. I also have a garden behind the garage which only gets some light until about noon but this has done pretty well in the past, for root veggies only.
