Mullein Weed in My Georgia Garden 2024 – Reddit Post

Great mullein (Verbascum thapsus) is a hairy, biennial plant that can grow to be over 2 meters tall. It is native to Europe, northern Africa, and Asia, and has been introduced to the Americas and Australia. Great mullein is a weedy plant that can be found in disturbed areas, such as roadsides, old fields, and vacant lots. It is listed as a noxious weed in Colorado and Hawaii. Great mullein is a host for insects that are economic pests.

I located several small plants in the perimeter of my yard last spring and this plant showed out! I’m located in south metro Atlanta. I hope to dry out the leaves next year. I did collect thousands of seeds for next year harvest.

Photos show different stages of growth! We had a bad wind storm and it fell over. I tried to prop it up but it was too tired. My helper is Frank!
