How do you grow rhubarb in a pot and overwinter, especially in climates with hot summers and cold winters? – Reddit Post

I live in south central US, Oklahoma, where nobody I know had had success growing rhubarb in the ground as it gets very hot. I acquired in from some family that lives up in WA state where it is nice and cool, not too hot of summers optimal conditions for rhubarb. I started it in a pot, indoors mid summer and it’s been doing great so far. But for those that know, rhubarb is a perinneal and needs dormancy and cool weather to produce in the spring. Currently night temps are in the 40s, day about 70-80s. Should I put it outside, in it’s pot, to over winter and leave it until the weather gets too hot and bring back in for the summer growth? Or would being in a pot make it too cold and kill it? Or should I just plant in the ground now and dig up when it gets hot? Any potted rhubarb advice for those that live in hotter summer climates is appreciated!
