Help with Tiger plant

Planted this Thysanolaena maxima a few weeks ago and it appears to be struggling in some regard. I am watering it every few days (3 or so) just to help establish it. Leaves appear to be filtering especially in warmer weather.

Located Adelaide so hasn’t been too hot but is certainly heating up now. It is next to a fence so thought it may be getting cooked from that also.

Seeking to understand if I am over watering or under watering and what I can do to help.
