Hello

New here so thought I’d say hello – 3 summers ago me and my boy sowed some carrot seeds, we had no idea what we were doing. We waited and waited and nothing happened, I was a bit sad as I had high hopes but there was no sign of life. Then after the longest time a tiny green shoot appeared – will never forget how excited he was – well both of us to be fair! Then the joy of pulling them out the ground with him months later and making them into a meal. It was special!

I built a raised bed last year and we grew nasturtiums, carrots, tomatoes, marigolds, strawberries, chamomile, and less successfully onions and garlic.

This year it’s tomatoes, nasturtiums, sweet peas, mangetout, calendula, carrots, leeks, shallots, spring onions, Livingstone Daisy’s, cosmos, sweet alyssum, strawberries, raspberries, sunflowers, wildflowers and olives.

I love how much I’ve learnt through trial and error, and it’s taught me patience! My boy is now five and he has his own space to grow, he loves pansies. I have started waking up early to go out as is such a lovely peaceful time of day, I put my headphones on and do a bit of gardening- it’s mindfulness which I had never expected but on a nice day with some good music on its just blissful.

I have quite a few questions which I’ll post separately – have found this really helpful already, there is so much online it’s hard to know what to believe but I value people’s personal experience, tips on my Jasmine have been very welcome!

Here’s a pic in comments of this years raised bed – cover is for the cats! I’m going to take it off soon but scared of what they will do to it! We have two who used it as a toilet over winter. Replacing the soil was a task!
