Grasshopper advice.. What are these spots? – Reddit Post
I’m new with planting and my experience with pests is only limited to having a few whiteflies landing on my leaves, which I could manage myself since I only have a few potted plants.
I know it might be common for leaves to have a few spots but I found huge holes in the leaves this morning and saw a baby grasshopper that was much tinier than the holes, happily munching the leaf…1 tiny little bug devoured 6 leaves. The only plant it went for is my water spinach (kangkong) plant which I’m going to harvest in 2 weeks, so it was quite upsetting to see something like that. ðŸ˜
I sprayed some organic insecticide before I left the house in the morning but when I came back in the evening, the grasshopper was on another water spinach plant eating away.
There were also these black spots in the image above which I’ve never seen before. Was it because of the grasshopper or fungal related problems?
Also, I’m worried that since there’s 1 baby grasshopper, there might be more babies coming, or maybe even the adult.
I’m open to trying out chemical pesticides (safe to consume after wash) if needed, as long as it deters them away. I don’t have any other plants which need pollinators too, I just want grasshoppers away!!
