Getting rid of grass/runners from ground and barrels
This section of my yard is definitely in need of some love. There are some half barrels in there which used to have plants, but now – like the rest of this section – have been taken over by grass runners. I want to make a more defined edge and have this as a specific garden ‘bed’ section, but what is the best way to remove all this grass and runners? I have done some work here and removed as much as I can by hand, and will be using some weed kill to help remove the rest, but the runners themselves are just everywhere – in the barrels, they’ve wound themselves around the insides of the barrels.
I was thinking weed mats to help kill the grass itself, but comments on this subreddit have now got me thinking not to use them. Or would they still be an okay idea to use in the barrels and something else for the ground work? Keen on any feedback/suggestions.
