First rose to bloom!

I was running to the car this morning (trying to dodge the torrential rain) and saw my first rose has opened up- this is a garden that’s been totally neglected for a number of years, so this rose is one of the bare roots I planted in February.

It’s Hermosa – a China rose- and it looks as though there’s plenty more buds on the way, if the rain doesn’t wipe them out first. It’s a repeat flowerer, and smells amazing.

Just wanted to share my excitement – it’ll be more impressive in future years, but it’s nice to see such growth already!
