First frost tips? – Reddit Post
This is my first year really flowering gardening and growing warm weather annuals (cosmos, zinnias, Mexican sunflower, marigolds) and native perennials (coneflower, black eyed susan, aster, blazing star, common milkweed) and I’m wondering what I need to do before our first good frost tonight? Zone 4b.
I’ve been harvesting seed as the plants dry. Will I still be able to harvest after the frost? I’ve heard zinnias are done for after a frost, so I’m most concerned about getting seed from those. Can I cut them before they’re brown and dried on the stem and let them dry indoors to harvest the seeds?
Thanks!
