Campanula keeps dying

I bought a few campanula plants about a month ago. I don’t have grass in my garden so planted them in a pot with just some multipurpose compost. Because it’s been really hot, the soil does dry out but I’m watering it every day. The flowers keep dying, I’ve been dead heading them but I’m just left with the stems (second photo) Nothing is really growing back. Am I doing something wrong?
