How am I doing so far? First year growing tomatoes – Reddit Post
This is my year, trying to grow tomatoes, and I am starting them indoors with Styrofoam cups. I got a little help from a family member with knowledge on what to do. I used garden soil miracle grow brand and put them in the cops and then sowed them about a quarter inch deep or maybe about an 8th inch deep. I watered them with a spray gun and cover them with plastic wrap and they have stayed damp since I planted them. I planted them on Saturday and it’s been about four days since they’ve been in the cup. I haven’t seen anything sprout yet, but I know it’s a little early for that. I keep a grow light on during the day and the soil temperature ranges from 60 to 65°. I’m wondering if this is a little on the low side or if I should’ve used a different type of soil. My family member who does this every year says garden soil is OK and there’s no need for potting soil or any special soil.
