What is the ‘new’ lawn?

So we want a patch of family space, but not a regular lawn.. something low maintenance that promotes diversity and pollenators..

So lots of people must be looking for that, I wondered what are the new options for flat spaces? I’ve heard a few mentioned in passing, but wondered what everyone here would recommend?
