Is my Peach Tree going to die? – Reddit Post

Hello all, first time posting so I apologize if I’m not keeping with etiquette.

I’m not sure what info is necessary so I’m going to provide as much as I can. I’m located in ohio. Bought the peach tree from a local nursery ~2.5 years ago. Pruned into a chalice shape. 1st year no fruit as expected.

2nd year, largest amount of growth of any of my trees but notices that there was so sap ‘leaking’ from the base of the trunk. I would go out and rip it off when I walked through my garden thought this might be because the tree only had a couple of fruit and the sugars had no where else to go. I noticed what little fruit i did have on the tree were pouring out white clear sugary sap. Researched this and foud that it was gumoisis as a result of stink bugs puncturing the fruit.

This year more of the above. More fruit all with gumoisis and more sap on the base of the tree. I looked at the base of the tree recently and noticed that it seems discolored now more than usual. I’m suspecting something fungal related to the leaking sap from the trunk. But it could be tied to the stink bugs.

A little more context I have strawberries and raspberries planted near the tree no issues there. But I did plant garlic around the tree, and all of those cloves wilted and died.

Looking for any resources or thoughts on the issue.

Thank you very much for looking at this.
