How to tackle this area?

Hi, does anyone have any advice on how to tackle this area of garden?

Ideally I would like to use it as a mini allotment. It’s artificial grass with an uneven layer of sand underneath and then plastic weed membrane I think. The easiest option i can think would be to pull the grass up, level the soil then cover with woodchip and then add raised beds. It’s also quite wide, maybe 2 meters so I think it should be fairly easy enough to just remove the wood border cut the desired length off an old reattach?
