More squirrel issues

Thank you to all a year or two ago about squirrel proof bird feeders. After sorting that out they have upped ante this year and have taken to digging out all my pots looking for grubs and bugs hiding in them.

Anyone had this and got any suggestions on how to discourage them from this? I know squirrels got to squirrel but it is heartbreaking to find they have gone through the pots of marigolds and other plants I was hardening off and ruining all that hard work.
