Gardening newbie…Please help!

Hello all! I’ve just moved into a new house and I’ve never had a garden before. I’m pretty excited to get started but I am overwhelmed by the look of this weed forest!!

I’m getting the strimmer out today but then, I have no clue how to tackle getting rid of all the weeds and getting actual grass in?
