Formerly thriving Lavender has two big branches/parts that died. normal? ways to prevent it? – Reddit Post
hi, i circled the dead parts in the third pic.
we are in aegean Turkey, we planted two lavenders here about 3 years ago, they were tiny and they grew so perfectly and huge with almost no watering (albeit 6months no rain during summer) and no further care, we were just amazed and let them do their thing.
this end of this summer though i noticed that one of them had two main branches dead (the other plant in the back is completely alive).
it’s not so bad, i guess i’ll just cut those dead branches off and they will fill back with new growth.
just wondering: would it be healthier for the plant to cut them back to ~half their size to let them sprout new? did the branches die because of not enough water? any other possible reasons?
just asking if there is anything to prevent that, otherwise the size of the plants and the fact they were blooming all through summer tells me the conditions cannot be all that bad…
